(Un)common scents by DedCool

Mooma is bringing a hint of La La Land to Aotearoa. At Mooma, we’ve spent months searching for that stand-out unisex perfume, and now we’ve found it. Vegan, cruelty-free, non-toxic and super-hip, DedCool’s five fragrances range from herbaceous to musky, spicy to woody scents.

Like its creator, LA native Carina Chaz, DedCool fights against convention. At 13, Carina created her first fragrance and at 16 her first brand, under her own name. With parents who owned a natural beauty company, Carina was always passionate about beauty and wellness being intertwined, however she soon moved away from her earlier girly scents. She realised it was the more masculine fragrances that suited her best. Driven by musks and woody notes, they were spicier and richer than the florals that her friends and other girls were wearing at the time.

This move towards gender-neutral fragrances is one of the reasons we were drawn to Carina’s story and her scent profiles – the DedCool range is designed as unisex, and this flows into the cool minimalist packaging.

Our favourite DedCool scent so far is ‘No. 4’ – it has sweet spiciness with underlying mossy and amber notes.
